I am an ecologist, broadly interested in quantifying and predicting biodiversity responses to environmental change. I tackle this at the individual level, especially movement responses of individuals and how these generate the spatial structure and dynamics of populations; at the community level, investigating how functional traits dynamics are linked to community structure and trophic interactions; and at the global scale, modelling global dynamics of local biodiversity responses to land use change and the effects on ecosystem services and resilience. I’m equally interested in fundamental and applied questions, with the latter comprising interactions between marine predators and fisheries in changing marine environments, the efficacy and local and landscape scale effects of agro-environmental measures, crop rotation and land use effects on biodiversity and ecosystem services. To tackle these questions I combine observational, experimental, and modelling approaches
